Storm Works (Nine Mile Run Watershed Association) and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh
Create a Rain Garden to capture stormwater from the Housing Authority site.
Landforce manually excavated a 200 square foot area, created a connection with downspouts to the rain garden, and planted 3 trees, 15 shrubs, and 78 perennial flowers.
Storm Works anticipates that over 42,000 gallons of stormwater will be captured and diverted from storm drains due to the installation of this green infrastructure feature which sits at the highest point in Homewood. Residents and neighbors will benefit from this diversion of stormwater as well as the beautification added by planting trees, shrubs, and colorful perennial flowers.
