Landforce is now fully staffed with six permanent staff members — Ilyssa Manspeizer, Executive Director, Thomas Guentner, Program Manager, Tiffany Kim, Workforce Development & Outreach Manager, Shawn Taylor, Crew Leader, Nate Broadus, Crew Leader, and Kristen Matthews, shared Administrative Coordinator — you can read about our talented staff here.

We kicked off our first full-house day with a staff retreat, getting to know each other, describing our shared Landforce history, and creating logic models with our Board President, Dr. Mary Ohmer. Thanks to the Pitt School of Social Work for lending us some space in the so aptly named Cathedral of Learning. The rest of our Board joined us for a delicious lunch from Salim’s and a spectacular workshop with Attack Theatre where Peter, Dane and Anthony helped us think about team work and communication from a new angle, and taught us how to get rid of the fear of learning and trying something new.  Attack Theatre are without a doubt experiential educators par excellence.

We rounded out our day in a setting where we all feel most comfortable — with a hike through Schenley Park’s magnificent Panther Hollow.  By the end of the day we were filled with gratitude to live in a City overflowing with beautiful places and natural spaces, and to know we are all part of a team that will play a role in preserving, protecting and enhancing these places in an equitable and just fashion.
